Accessibility

Our conference spaces in the Learning and Teaching Building are accessible, and our friendly, professional team is on-hand to offer directions, assistance and advice.

There’s level access to the building (Level 1 is the main ground floor), with dedicated lift access available to all floors.
All Auditoria feature accessible flat flooring or designated platform lifts to accommodate wheelchair spaces for those unable to transfer into a seat.
All primary Auditoria and Teaching Rooms are fitted with assistive hearing technologies and induction loops.
There are accessible/gender-neutral toilets on all floors, which are clearly signposted.
There are designated safe refuge areas throughout the building for any delegates unable to evacuate using stairs in the event of an emergency situation.

Sustainability

The Learning and Teaching Building stands as a premier example of sustainable architecture and environmental responsibility. Rather than constructing a brand-new facility from scratch, the university cleverly combined and upgraded two existing campus buildings. This sustainable choice prevented a significant amount of construction waste and reduced embodied carbon emissions by an impressive 67%, earning the venue a prestigious national award for green design.

Other sustainable measures/features include:

Smart LED Lighting: Motion sensors and energy-saving bulbs automatically turn off in empty rooms.
Natural Ventilation: Window designs maximize natural fresh air flow to reduce heavy air conditioning.
Water Refill Stations: Free drinking water points are placed on every floor to eliminate single-use plastic.
Bicycle Hubs: Secure bike parking and shower facilities encourage low-carbon travel to the venue.
