Professor Fiona Henriquez-Mui is Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Strathclyde and an internationally recognised expert in free-living amoebae, environmental microbiology, and antimicrobial resistance. Her research and leadership span environmental, clinical, and One Health disciplines, and she is delighted to serve as Conference Chair for FLAM 2027.

Dr Ronnie Mooney is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Departament of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Strathclyde. His research focuses on free-living amoebae, environmental antimicrobial resistance, and microbial ecology. His work combines laboratory and bioinformatics approaches to investigate interactions between amoebae and bacteria in environmental systems.

Dr Logan Mackie is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science at the University of Strathclyde. His research primarily focuses on drug delivery using Surfactant-based Nanoparticles for delivery of therapeutics to the brain for the treatment of neurotropic pathogens such as viruses and Amoebae. His work aims to develop novel nanocarrier formulations and repurposed drug combinations to achieve better therapeutics for targeted delivery.

Cara McGhee is a PhD student in the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science at the University of Strathclyde. Her research primarily focuses on amoeba presence at the blood brain barrier (BBB) and amoeba-mammalian cell interactions within the central nervous system (CNS). Her work aims to better elucidate mechanisms of barrier breach in the context of granulomatous amoebic encephalitis (GAE).

Professor Craig W. Roberts is Director of Research in the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences. He is Professor of Parasitology and is an expert in Acanthamoeba and Toxoplasma gondii. His research, teaching and leadership span immunology, drug target identification and validation, drug formulation and targeted delivery, and host–pathogen interactions.

Dr Elisa Giammarini is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Strathclyde. Her research sits at the interface of environmental and translational microbiology, with a focus on free-living amoebae, antimicrobial resistance, microbial adaptation, and biotechnological approaches to microbial control and remediation. Her work has used biofilm and co-culture models to investigate microbial interactions in environmental and clinically relevant settings and has also included drug repurposing research to identify new strategies against infections associated with antimicrobial resistance.
